Two 0' clock Saturday morning Mike started having even more severe pain that he has thus far. The pain got progressively worse so at 2:15 p.m. we went to the ER. They did some blood work and they gave him dilodid and something for nausea. He had one bag of saline with 3 doses of the dilodid. Mike felt like with the pain meds on board we could go home. This proved to be a bad decision. He started throwing up as soon as I pulled into the garage and continued throwing up until about 8:30pm when I decided we should go back to the hospital. He was so sick and white, I've never seen anyone so ill. He was weak and fell in the bathroom and I called Michelle and Shawn and Marrit to come and help us.
He fainted again and was unable to stand, the kids carried him from the bathroom to the bed and I called 911. To make a really long night into a short story they discovered after x-rays that he had pneumonia. Where did this come from? Curtis and Shawn gave Mike a blessing. The kids all stayed late and were all so tired. You don't know how much you need your family around until you have a crisis. Neither Mike or I slept while we were in the ER. We were there until 6:30am because of a nurse shortage in ICU. But, all the people at the hospital were great and were so kind to both of us. He was admitted to the ICU and finally we both fell asleep for an hour.
Dr. Poulsen came in and explained what was happening and that the surgery in SLC would be cancelled. They are treating Mike aggressively with antibiotics and pain control meds as well as meds for a very low blood pressure which at it lowest was 74/49. When I left him this afternoon his pressure was coming back up with the help of the re-hydration and dopamine. He will be in ICU for a couple more days and then move to the med/surg floor for a couple more days. We are all exhausted and our nerves are frazzled with this turn of events. But so happy we have great people at our hospital here in Cedar. Thank you all for your prayers that are coming our way. We are so blessed to have so many friends that care. Love you all Mom/Barbara/Grandma
